Tick I have this on anything you already own. Unticked rows still need to be bought or packed.

  1. Carry-on. A taxi, a metro card, and food for the first days, before you have found an ATM you trust. Get euros from your bank before you fly.
    Pack from home
  2. Carry-on, in the original bottles, with a note from your doctor for anything prescribed. A term's supply if you can; your exact med is not guaranteed in a Spanish pharmacy.
    Pack from home
  3. If the checked bag lands a day late, you still have a clean outfit for orientation. Roll it into the small packing cube.
    Pack from home
  4. Long walks to class and between sights. Clean everyday sneakers or flats you have already broken in. Locals save running shoes for the gym.
    Pack from home
  5. December through February is cold and windy. Locals wear dark layers and a real coat. Bring the one you already own.

Nice to have4

Tick I have this if you already own it. Add remaining items to your bag.

  1. Fall and spring still have bright days. Pack the sunglasses you own; the hat can wait until May.
    Pack from home
  2. Locals dress up a notch, even for class: no sweats or gym clothes on the street. Add one going-out outfit (clubs turn away sneakers and T-shirts) and one that covers shoulders and knees for churches.
    Pack from home
  3. A US-only dryer or straightener burns out on Spanish current, and a converter only delays it. Bring one marked 100–240V or buy a cheap one in Spain.

Insurance and an eSIM

Get these on GoAbroad if you still need them.

If your campus already enrolled you in CISI, skip the insurance row. Do not buy a second policy.

  1. Required

A Spanish prepaid SIM means a passport and a store visit. A GoAbroad eSIM can cover the term; check the 90-day option before a 7-day pack.

  2. Required unless school covers you

Print the card for your carry-on either way. If your school already enrolled you in CISI, skip this row. Do not double-buy.
